Who does Laura Dern play in Star Wars: The Last Jedi? We have all the information you need to get you ready for the latest movie from a galaxy far, far away.
Since the new Star Wars films have started to appear in theaters over the last few years, audiences have been introduced to a host of new characters. While the likes of Luke Skywalker, Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, C-3PO, R2-D2 and Admiral Ackbar all returned for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, a number of new faces debuted in the blockbuster.
These included Daisy Ridley’s Rey, John Boyega’s Finn, Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren, Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron and Lupita Nyong’o’s Maz Kanata among others.
Now, with another Star Wars film just around the corner, there will be even more characters appearing for the first time for audiences to get acquainted with.
Considering Force Awakens did the majority of the heavy lifting where setting the stage for the trilogy is concerned, the list of new characters in Star Wars: The Last Jedi is a relatively short one.
Among the notable additions to the cast include Kelly Marie Tran’s Rose Tico, Benicio Del Toro’s DJ and Laura Dern’s Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo.
All three will likely be playing key roles in the film, with Dern’s Holdo poised for a significant role with the Resistance.
Entertainment Weekly wrote the following about the character in an article that also includes quotes from Dern.
"“The admiral barges in and doesn’t care what people think, or whether she’s welcomed or meets approval. She’s headstrong, but not necessarily wrong. ‘Sometimes you need somebody to show up and yeah, teach you a thing or two,’ Dern says.”"
It will certainly be interesting to see how that plays with the rest of the Resistance characters as the ongoing conflict with the First Order continues.
