The CW’s Riverdale continues its second season on Wednesday night with episode 9, “Silent Night, Deadly Night.” Find out all the details about how to watch the episode online.

Last week’s episode of Riverdale set in motion a whole new path for the series that seemed to come out of left field. That being the sudden break up of both Betty and Jughead and Veronica and Archie.

To recap, these there the reasons for the splitting up of both couple. For Bughead, it mostly had to do with Jughead being kicked out of the Serpents, and taking out his anger on Betty. See, F.P. made a deal to not retire to save Jughead from Penny Peabody.

His decision to break up with Betty comes at the worst time, just after she tried to become more involved with the Serpents. By doing a “serpent dance” in a crowded bar.

As for Archie and Veronica, their breakup comes as a result of Veronica being unable to say I love you to Archie after he said it to her. Archie can’t handle that Veronica won’t say it back to him, so she decides that they are better off as friends.

Adding fuel to the fire that these breakups may actually be somewhat permanent is that by the end of last week’s episode, Jughead’s voiceover is already saying that there are already feelings starting to re-emerge between Betty and Archie. Seeing as the Betty/Archie/Veronica love triangle is one of the most famous in pop culture, it makes sense the Riverdale would eventually go there. But doing it this way feels like way too sudden.

This week’s episode, which is also the midseason finally will feature a lot of Betty and Archie to continue the new path to them becoming a couple. While Jughead and Veronica will be off dealing with family drama, Archie and Betty will be working together on figuring out the Black Hood’s agenda.

Seeing as this is the midseason finale, it looks like Archie and Betty will finally learn something about the Black Hood. Information that will lead to a big fight between the future Riverdale couple and the Black Hood.

But first, as any thing being billed as a showdown will happen near the end of the episode, the now former Riverdale couples will awkwardly exchange Christmas gifts. An moment that the trailer for the episode highlights. But given that the title for the episode includes the word deadly in it, this will likely be just a brief moment of light, in what will possibly be a very dark episode.

Here are all of the details on how to watch Riverdale season 2, episode 9, ”Silent Night, Deadly Night” both on TV and online.
