West Ham come off of a huge upset against Chelsea over the weekend. Their schedule doesn’t get any easier though, as they now face Arsenal. Their 1-0 win was the shock result of the weekend, and brought them into 18th place in the table. On a day when the other two bottom three squads picked up points, it was vital for the Hammers to get all three points. Last week, David Moyes’ squad nearly got a result against Manchester City, who look virtually unbeatable this season, and then got a 1-0 result against Chelsea the following contest. They’ll get no break of top six opponents when Arsenal visit the London Stadium on Wednesday.
The Gunners seemed to have turned a corner after their win against rivals Tottenham, but lost to Manchester United and drew against Southampton to erase most hope that any naive supporters had for title aspirations. Southampton have been a team that Arsenal simply cannot figure out lately, and that’s boiled over into this season as well. Any chance to battle for the title went out the window a week ago, and now Arsenal need to focus on getting into the top four or winning the Europa League.
