Adrian Peterson placed on season-ending IR
The Arizona Cardinals have placed running back Adrian Peterson on IR, ending his season.
Adrian Peterson has once again found himself on a list he’s more than familiar with. On Thursday evening, the Arizona Cardinals placed him on injured reserve and ended his 2017 season. NFL analyst Adam Schefter has confirmed the news via Twitter.

On Wednesday, Cardinals coach Bruce Arians spoke with reporters and said he was unsure if Peterson would play again this year. He has missed the last two games with a neck injury. It was supposed to be a rebirth of sorts for the running back when the New Orleans Saints traded him to the Cardinals back in October. He filled a huge void when David Johnson went down with an early-season injury.
Peterson posted a pair of 100-plus yard games and gave the impression we may get to see him in vintage form. But the injury bug came back around and got him yet again. He missed 13 games last season with a knee injury and missed time back in 2011 with a torn ACL. So he’s no stranger to the IR list. In 10 games this season, he picked up just over 500 yards on 150-plus carries.
It is unknown whether he will be in any condition to play next season, but the good news is that he will not need surgery to repair the damage to his neck.

Kerwynn Williams will likely see a lot more opportunities, now that Peterson has been sidelined for the remainder of the season. The Cardinals still have games against the Redskins, Giants, and a trip to Seattle to face the Seahawks.
