Wondering how, when and where you can live stream Olaf’s Frozen Adventure? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.
As if overnight in 2013, Frozen took over the nation. Everyone was dressed like Elsa, every other commercial was for Frozen and “Let It Go” became the national anthem.
Okay, that last one was a joke, but you get what I’m saying.
Naturally, Disney has milked this popular franchise for as long as it can, culminating in the latest animated short, Olaf’s Frozen Adventure.
The controversy surrounding this short is dying down after being a major talking point for weeks now, as Olaf’s Frozen Adventure originally aired before their latest animated film Coco.
If it was a 5-10 minute short, I am fairly certain that no one would have cared. Disney has done this in the past with other animated shorts in advance for their films. However, it was 22 minutes long — a crazy amount of time for someone to watch something before their movie even begins.
Throw in the argument that it was to keep white audiences interested in a movie about Latinx traditions, and people were angry.
Personally, I think it’s a marketing ploy by Disney. Christmas is right around the corner, and they want kids to remember how much they loved Frozen so they can sell merchandise. Disney cares about only two things: money and self-image. I doubt they would ever risk their self-image to cater to a white audience, as some have suggested.
After a set period of time that the director confirmed was planned in advance, the short is no longer showing before Coco, and will instead air on ABC as part of their 25 Days of Christmas.
