Here are five things that you may have missed during this week around the NBA.

Ah, holiday season, the peak time period for the NBA. This week, the NBA was just about as interesting off the court as it was on it. For a good part of the week, social media shenanigans dominated the NBA world; for multiple reasons.

First of all, Joel Embiid is back at his usual tomfoolery, trolling the NBA via social media once again. This time, it was Karl-Anthony Towns who decided to take a joking jab at Embiid. Embiid posted a photo of him driving to the basket with the caption “Euro stepping our way through Minnesota and we ended up raising the cat last night” after defeating the KAT led Timberwolves. Therefore, Towns decided to comment “that caption was as trash as your picture quality”, which didn’t settle well with Embiid. The Sixers big man then took a shot at the Timberwolves’ defense and moved on with his day. Additionally, social media has spent the better part of the week trying to get fitness and social media model Jen Selter to ‘hook up’ with Kristaps Porzingis with NBA Twitter personality Rob Perez (@World_Wide_Wob) leading the charge. So, there’s that.

Further, a few unthinkable things have taken place this week. Matt Barnes called it quits after more than 15 years in the league, Victor Oladipo dropped a career-high 47 points and the Chicago Bulls are on a four-game win streak. Yes, that is correct, the Bulls own the NBA’s third-longest win streak. Steph Curry and Anthony Davis remain out for their respective teams and John Wall made his return on Wednesday night.

Here are a few other headlines from around the association which you may have missed.
