It will be Week 15 in the 2017 NFL season this week. One game that will be going on early Sunday afternoon will be between the New York Jets (5-8) and the New Orleans Saints (9-4). Kickoff from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome will be at 1:00 p.m. ET on Dec. 17.
New York enters play at 5-8 on the year and barely alive in the AFC wild card race. The Jets have already been eliminated from the AFC East race. One would think that one more loss in the final three weeks will knock the Jets out of the AFC playoff picture entirely. Then again, how many wins did you think that New York was going to have this year? Certainly not as many as five with that roster.
New Orleans enters play at 9-4 on the year and in first place in the NFC South race. The Saints have the same record as the Carolina Panthers (9-4), but completed the season sweep of their division rival a few weeks prior. New Orleans should be in line to win the NFC South for the first time since 2011. If not, then the Saints will be making their first trip to the NFC playoffs since 2013.
