10. Bitcoin St. Petersburg Bowl

The St. Petersburg Bowl will appear on this list multiple times thanks to a string of unfortunate sponsors. Is it really that difficult to raise money for a bowl game played in Florida without a sponsor? Perhaps, or maybe they could use a few extra bucks thanks to some local businesses and one that is no longer all the rage.

In case you don’t remember the Bitcoin phase, it was a type of electronic currency — well, it still is — that was gaining steam a few years back and was supposed to take over the way people spent money and how currency was perceived.

Bitcoins have since gone by the wayside, although there are a number of people who still use them, and the Bitcoin St. Petersburg Bowl was about as quick-lived as the craze over the electronic currency.

The Bitcoin St. Petersburg Bowl lasted just one year (2014) before dropping a sponsor in 2015-16 and just being referred to as the St. Petersburg Bowl. North Carolina State beat UCF by a touchdown in that game which was the second-highest attendance of any St. Petersburg Bowl. Unfortunately, the new name for 2017 is far worse than the Bitcoin.
