8. Beef O’Brady’s Bowl
Yes, the St. Petersburg Bowl makes another appearance on this list after being ranked No. 10 as the Bitcoin St. Petersburg Bowl. If you’re wondering just how much worse that sponsorship could get, just check out the 2010-13 version of the bowl.
The Beef O’Brady’s Bowl made its first appearance as part of the postseason schedule in 2009 just one year after being named the St. Petersburg Bowl Presented by Beef O’Brady’s. That wouldn’t have been nearly as bad if it stuck to that, but it dropped the city name and just stuck with the restaurant chain.
Restaurants have sponsored bowl games before such as the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, which isn’t a great name but everyone knows the food and most love it. As for Beef O’Brady’s, it’s not the most well-known chain and the name is just odd.
I’m sure Beef O’Brady’s is a quality restaurant/pub, but it’s a terrible name for a bowl. Luckily the name has since changed, but it might be worse in 2017 than ever before. You’ll have to stick around to find out just where the newest name ranks.
