The bowl season kicks off with six games tomorrow. It’s almost like a whole football Saturday! I will not make a pick for the Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl. I wouldn’t be doing you any justice there. The only 1-AA teams I have watched are North Dakota State and Youngstown State. I wouldn’t be making an educated pick.
However, for the rest of the bowls, you will get my picks against the spread and point wagers just like I did all season long. I had a solid regular season, but I can make it look a whole lot better with a strong bowl season!
Just in case you missed any:

Middle Tennessee State vs. Arkansas State(-3.5) at Montgomery, AL(3):
Middle Tennessee State 6-6, 4-4(t6th CUSA):
Wins: at Syracuse(30-23), vs. Bowling Green(24-13), vs. Florida International(37-17), vs. UTEP(30-3), at Charlotte(35-21), vs. Old Dominion(41-10)
Losses: vs. Vanderbilt(6-28), at Minnesota(3-34), at Florida Atlantic(20-38), at UAB(23-25), vs. Marshall(10-38), at Western Kentucky(38-41)
Record vs. bowl teams: 1-4
The Blue Raiders went 2-4 with starting quarterback Brent Stockstill out, but rallied to make a bowl game anyway. The inability of Middle Tennessee State to run the ball in Stockstill’s absence limited the offense. Their lack of a running game was a problem all season.
Arkansas State 7-4, 6-3(2nd Sun Belt):
Wins: vs. Arkansas-Pine Bluff(48-3), at Georgia Southern(43-25), vs. Coastal Carolina(51-17), vs. Louisiana(47-3), at New Mexico State(37-21), vs. Texas State(30-12), at Louisiana-Monroe(67-50)
Losses: at Nebraska(36-43), at SMU(21-44), at South Alabama(19-24), at Troy(25-32)
Record vs. bowl teams: 0-2
I really did want to see Miami play Arkansas State. Especially after they pushed Nebraska in Lincoln. At any rate, the Red Wolves aren’t that tested of a team, nor did they play well on the road. Luckily for them, this is not a true road game. Mufreesboro is a little bit closer to Montomery, but not enough to make this a road game.
Prediction:
Middle Tennessee State will have Stockstill back, which gives the offense the added push to keep up with Arkansas State. The Red Wolves have a better defense (most of the time). That and the inability of Middle Tennessee State to effectively run the ball has me picking the Red Wolves here.
Pick: Arkansas State
