Following a midweek win, Burnley moved ahead of Arsenal in the Premier League table. On Saturday, Brighton host Burnley at Falmer Stadium. Brighton have struggled lately, slipping to 13th in the league table.
Brighton have lost three consecutive games after a 2-0 loss to Tottenham on Wednesday. The Seagulls have picked up only one point in their last five games. Brighton have struggled to defend this season, allowing the eighth most goals. Offensively, the Seagulls have scored only 14 goals, the fifth fewest in the Premier League. Outside of Glenn Murray and Pascal Groß, the Seagulls have very few players who are threats to score. Murray leads the club with five goals, while Groß has three goals and five assists.
Burnley have been the biggest surprise of the Premier League season. Sean Dyche’s team are sixth in the table after defeating Stoke 1-0 on an 89th-minute goal from substitute Ashley Barnes. The win was the Clarets second straight and sixth in their last eight games. Burnley have been one of the best defensive teams this season, allowing only 12 goals in the first 17 games of the season. Only Manchester City and Manchester United, who have both allowed 11 goals have allowed fewer goals than the Clarets. While Burnley have been incredible defensively, the conservative style of play has them in the bottom half in goals. The Clarets have scored only 16 goals, the eighth fewest in the Premier League. Chris Wood leads the club with four goals.
