Manchester City beat Tottenham 4-1 at the Etihad on Saturday, Dec. 16. Here are all the highlights from the match.

Then it was 16. Manchester City’s extraordinary winning streak continued on Saturday, as they beat Tottenham 3-0 at the Etihad to make it 16 wins in a row and five out of five against the rest of the big six. Their lead in the title race is now up to 14 points.

The Citizens were excellent throughout, bypassing Tottenham’s press thanks to the outstanding distribution of Ederson and goal and their speed on the break. For all their quality in possession, however, they took the lead to some good old fashioned lazy marking in the 14th minute.

Ilkay Gundogan — starting in place of David Silva, who’s been in inspired form in the past few weeks — was the scorer, strolling into Tottenham’s box without anyone seeming even to notice him, and heading in unmarked.

Pep Guardiola’s side got even better from there, with Sergio Aguero and Gundogan both testing Hugo Lloris before halftime. Leroy Sane was particularly dangerous, terrorizing Kieran Trippier down Spurs’ left wing.

Tottenham improved in the 10 minutes before and after halftime, but there best two chances were long-distance efforts by Harry Kane, the first of which went wide and the second of which was well saved by Ederson.

Spurs were also fortunate to end the match with 11 men, as Kane escaped with a yellow for a studs up tackle on Raheem Sterling and Dele Alli did the same for an even worse studs up tackle on Kevin De Bruyne.

City put the game to bed shortly after that Alli foul, however, when De Bruyne finished another rapid counter-attack with a powerful left-footed finish past Lloris. They had a chance to make it three from the spot five minutes later, but Gabriel Jesus hit the post.

Sterling made it a rout with two goals late on, tapping in City’s third at the back post following another flowing counter-attack, before nut-megging Lloris in the 90th minute and rolling the ball into an empty net.

City extended their lead to 14 points, at least until Manchester United play West Brom on Sunday. Spurs fall down to seventh place, two points off the top four. That could increase to three if Liverpool beat Bournemouth on Sunday.
