Oregon goes on defensive scoring spree against Boise State in Las Vegas Bowl
By Jack Crosby
Oregon got themselves back into the Las Vegas Bowl on Saturday before the half with a little help from the defensive side of the ball.
Things were not going very well for the Oregon Ducks on Saturday in the Las Vegas Bowl against the Boise State Broncos. With just about 5 minutes to go until halftime, the Ducks were getting trounced by the Broncos to the tune of 24-0, and with the way things were going, it appeared as if they had no hope of getting back into this one.
However, we all needed a reminder that this is bowl season we’re talking about, and things could get out of hand in a hurry. That is exactly what happened out in Vegas before the half came to a conclusion.
Oregon did get itself back into the game, thanks to some help from the defensive side of the ball. First, Boise tried to do a little callback by executing the infamous Statue of Liberty play that gave them the historical win over Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl. Well, the execution did not go well at all, and it resulted in a Troy Dye 86-yard return for a touchdown off the fumble.
The Ducks were not done yet. With Boise getting the ball back, it seemed as if they were ready to punch Oregon right back in the mouth with a score. Tyree Robinson would pick off Brett Rypien in the end zone and proceed to take the ball 100 yards to the house.
Just like that, we have ourselves a 24-14 game at the half.
Bowl season is wild and we’re all so glad it’s returned!
