Verona are second from the bottom in Serie A ahead of their game on Sunday against AC Milan. Milan have been one of the most disappointing teams in Europe this season and enter the weekend in seventh place.
Verona were minutes away from picking up all three points against SPAL in their last game. However, SPAL scored in the 86th and 88th minutes to steal a point from Verona. While Verona have picked up four points in their last three games, they have also lost six of their last eight games. The club have struggled to score goals and defend this season. Verona have the fifth fewest goals with 14 goals, Giampaolo Pazzini leads the club with four goals. However, Verona have allowed 32 goals, the second most in Serie A.
Gennaro Gattuso picked up his first win as Milan manager after a humiliating draw with last-place Benevento the previous weekend. AC Milan defeated Bologna 2-1 with Giacomo Bonaventura scoring both goals. Milan will look to pick up back to back wins for the first time since September against Verona. Suso and Nikola Kalinic have combined to score nine of the club’s 23 goals this season. While Milan are in the top third in goals, they are middle of the pack defensively, allowing 21 goals. After playing most of the season with a three-man defense, Gattuso has reverted back to a four-man defense in an attempt to improve their defense.
