Troy faces off against North Texas in the 2017 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl on Saturday, December 16. With Troy looking to go back to back with bowl game wins, and North Texas on the hunt for its first bowl win since 2013, the battle for the New Orleans Bowl promises to be one for the ages.

The Trojans are 10-2 with their last loss dating back to October 21 against Southern Alabama. This Troy team averaged 152 rushing yards this season with an impressive 255 passing yards, and they lead North Texas in all head to head season stats. The Trojans have recent bowl experience and their senior quarterback, Brandon Silvers, has the leadership to get the job done.

Though Troy has had a better season than the 9-4 Mean Green, North Texas fares better in matchups against Troy, leading with 290 passing yards and 176 rushing yards. North Texas has averaged about 35 points per game this season and they look to make up for their loss against FAU in the Conference USA title game. Despite that loss, the Mean Green were perfect in conference play aside from FAU and they have the ability to capitalize on the skills of their sophomore quarterback, Mason Fine, who comes into Saturday’s game with 28 touchdowns.
