Bologna vs. Juventus live stream: Watch Serie A online
Juventus face Bologna at the Stadio Renato Dell’Ara on Sunday, Dec. 17. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
After playing league-leaders Inter Milan to a 0-0 draw this past Saturday in the Derby d’Italia, Juventus travel to Bologna on matchday 17 seeking three points with their sights firmly placed on reaching the the top of the table. Standing in their way is Bologna, a team that struggling AC Milan dispatched last weekend.
Juventus are coming off a series of tough contests. They started last week with a visit to Naples (and a 1-0 victory against Napoli), a trip to Greece, where they had to defeat Olympiakos (and did) in Athens in order to qualify for the Champions League final 16.
Having won six straight Serie A titles — and having changed coach Antonio Conte for Massimiliano Allegri halfway through that impressive string of wins — Juventus find themselves in third place after losing two matches already this season. Their defense, anchored by veteran Giorgio Chiellini, isn’t as solid as in years past.
What Juventus will also be looking for are some goals this Sunday against Bologna at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium. Led by Paulo Dybala, Juve’s attack has been one of the most-feared in Italy. With 41 goals scored, Juventus feature the most-prolific attack in Serie A. That bodes well for a team who want to win the Scudetto again. Gonzalo Higuain has regained his form and his nine goals this season are proof of it. Dybala leads the team with 12 goals.
In an interview with the Italian Vanity Fair, the 24-year-old Dybala said, “When we have the ball at our feet, us players are always extremely happy. What happens outside the pitch, away from cameras, often isn’t so beautiful. What happens to footballers who reach my same level? Most of the times they are very lonely men.”
Dybala has also been at the center of some controversy this week after the Bianconeri decided to delay talks of a new contract (after he has seen his form sag a bit over the past few months, particularly in the Champions League), opening the door for the possibility of Real Madrid or some potential other suitors to make an offer.
The problems don’t end there for Juve. Allegri will likely be without goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon as well as Chiellini as both players continue to nurse injuries. Aside from the injuries, the Old Lady will also have to overcome a Bologna side playing their best soccer in 15 years. Bologna, coached by former AC Milan and Italy midfielder Roberto Donadoni, are currently in 10th place, have not played this well since finishing seventh during the 2001-02 season. Juventus won the title that season.
Donadoni regretted his team’s loss to AC Milan last Sunday, saying it would have been a great opportunity to take advantage of the Rossoneri‘s problems.
“There are many little things that can make the difference. Milan started strong and we sat back too much. We reacted well eventually, but not for long enough and fell back into old patterns until we went behind again,” he told reporters after the 2-1 loss. “Milan are in difficulty, but they earned this result with the right determination. People expect a great deal from them and we should’ve taken advantage of that psychological aspect to the game.”
