Leonard Fournette inactive for Jaguars

With fantasy football playoffs in full swing, many owners have to be devastated with Leonard Fournette being ruled inactive by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jacksonville is trying to get into the playoffs for the first time since 2007. With a win, the Jaguars will accomplish that feat, but they will need to do so without star rookie running back Leonard Fournette, who has been ruled out of Sunday’s contest at EverBank Field against the Houston Texans.

Fournette had not practiced all week, so this decision doesn’t come as a huge surprise. Still, the former LSU superstar had been ruled as questionable on the final injury report issued on Friday, so hope remained for both his fantasy owners and Jacksonville fans alike.

Without him, the Jaguars will need to rely on their young, ferocious defense to handle business against T.J. Yates and Co. Houston has been utterly rancid since watching Deshaun Watson go down with a torn ACL in practice a few months ago. The Texans have won just a single game with Tom Savage under center, bringing their record to 4-9.

Fournette has played in 11 games this season, rushing for 923 yards and eight touchdowns on 4.0 yards per carry. He has also caught 29 passes for 213 yards and a score.

Jacksonville can clinch a playoff berth by beating Houston at home, but the AFC South will remain up for grabs. The Jaguars hold a one-game lead on the Tennessee Titans, who they play Week 17. Tennessee is at the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, followed by a home date with the Los Angeles Rams.
