15 things we need to see in WWE before 2017 ends
The year 2017 is nearing its end. What do we need to see in WWE before the calendar turns to 2018?
It’s been a very busy year for WWE. Plenty of huge moments have happened already, from the spectacular to the awe-inspiring to the shocking and the surprising. In-ring work may have never been better than what we’ve seen so far. The rise of tag team wrestling to the top of the charts took the world by storm.
Braun Strowman, Elias, Jinder Mahal, Alexa Bliss, and others rose to stardom. Goldberg came back and won the Universal Title! Enzo and Cass broke up as a tag team, and a plucky upstart named James Ellsworth turned into a stud next to Carmella. Speaking of Ms. Money in the Bank, the first women’s MITB match happened! And the second one, which turned out a bit better than the first. Bray Wyatt was WWE Champion, and that ended with worms being projected on the ring. Yeah, we’d like to forget about that, too.
All told, even with all the heat, this was still a very successful year. But business remains unfinished. In the coming weeks, loose ends will be tied up. Returns may happen. Careers may be altered. And there are still matches that could captivate us all.
There are quite a few things left to be seen in 2017. What should WWE bring to the table? Here are our 15 ideas for WWE that we need to see in the final weeks of the year. These range from returns, to match ideas, to recharges for certain superstars. Everything can always be changed. Anything can still be on the table. But, this is what we’d like to see happen in the final two weeks of 2017.
The return of The Revival
UPDATE: The Revival has since made their return this past Monday on RAW
Say yeah.
While The Usos have been on a barnstorming tour for tag team wrestling this year, let’s not forget who the aces were in 2016. The Revival were outstanding in NXT, working great matches with just about anyone they faced. Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder have perfected the art of tag team wrestling, once lost, but now found. Now, the tag team division is better than it’s been in a long time. But, the void they’ve left is present.
Ever since they came up from NXT in April, the team has been snakebitten and then some. Wilder injured himself. Then, after that, Scott Dawson does. They have not been able to establish themselves because of it. They have not been able to ply their craft as a result, and it’s disrupted the flow they could have attained. It’s almost like they’ve been forgotten, and given their pedigree, they shouldn’t be forgotten. They were the team in pro wrestling, not just WWE or NXT. And their absence has hurt their stock a little bit. But, hopefully, they get back on the line.
With the current state of the division, adding Dawson and Wilder back to the mix would be terrific for RAW. Imagine The Revival vs. The Shield? Or The Revival vs. The Bar? The caliber of work in those matches would be outstanding. As would the character work.
Gaining Dawson and Wilder again is one of the many things we’d like to see happen before the end of 2017. Not just because of the benefits RAW would gain. But, also because their overall health being improved is good for all involved. Get them back aboard, and watch them flourish. They will be hitmakers again.
