Kyle O’Quinn is the king of New York’s Bar Mitzvah scene
New York Knicks reserve center Kyle O’Quinn is a fan favorite on the court at Madison Square Garden. He is now a favorite on the Bar Mitzvah scene too.
Hang around Kyle O’Quinn or follow him around long enough and you will automatically sense his good nature. O’Quinn has always been an energy player in his six-year NBA career, never afraid to mix things up and go after a rebound.
In Orlando and New York, O’Quinn quickly became a fan favorite. The former second-round pick has carved himself a nice career.
But O’Quinn does plenty outside the basketball court, where he is experiencing a bit of a revival in helping the New York Knicks hang around the .500 mark. He was spotted at the U.S. Open taking photos and is a budding photographer in his spare time.
And apparently, he spends his Saturday’s dancing the night away. Not at a club or anything, but at Bar Mitzvahs?
According to Ian Begley of ESPN New York, O’Quinn made a few appearances at Bar Mitzvahs around the city and quickly became a fixture in the Bar Mitzvah scene.
"“They see how much I enjoy it and they let me rock out,” he said. “The parents are partying with the kids and it’s a big festival. They’re letting loose, having a good time and the kids are having a good time.“Honestly, it’s really nice to be a part of their culture and be down with them.”"
It started with his agent Andy Miller’s daughter’s Bat Mitzvah. O’Quinn said he had a good time at the party and the kids were all over him excited to see him. He quickly became the life of the party.
That is O’Quinn by his very nature. He is the life of every party and always looking to have a good time. It is no surprise he quickly became the centerpiece of this Bat Mitzvah party.
O’Quinn said he might attend a Bar Mitzvah party in the future. He enjoyed the experience and the celebration.
Of course, his day job probably takes precedence right now. O’Quinn is having a stellar year, averaging 6.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game off the bench for the Knicks.
