Baker Mayfield

Quarterback, Oklahoma

The Buffalo Bills beat the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, and in doing so, inched every so much closer to a spot in the AFC Playoffs. Considering all the turmoil that has been going around this franchise, especially at the quarterback position, it has been an impressive run. While Tyrod Taylor seems to be the man now, he certainly is not the future at the position, and it may be time for them to draft a new signal-caller.

Baker Mayfield is one of the more electric players in all of college football, and he was recently named the 2017 Heisman Trophy winner. Mayfield has the talent to take a team and put them on his back, and the fans in Buffalo are pining for someone like that under center. While Taylor is not a terrible quarterback, it appears the franchise does not think he is the answer, and they are likely to draft a signal-caller in round one.

Buffalo has two first round picks, so they can go after a quarterback with either selection. Mayfield does not have the physical attributes you look for in a starting NFL quarterback, but neither do guys like Russell Wilson or Drew Brees. I am not comparing Mayfield to either of them at this point, but he certainly plays with the kind of fire you see out of Wilson and Brees on a weekly basis at the NFL level.
