2018 NFL Mock Draft: Browns, Giants nab QBs
By Brad Weiss
For years, the gameplan in New Orleans was very simple. Have Drew Brees drop back 40 times and see what happens. Well, the Saints spent the 2017 offseason making moves to bolster their defense, and their backfield, and the results have been great thus far. The Saints are one of the better rushing teams in the NFL, and their young defense is only going to get better each week.
New Orleans spent a first round pick on cornerback Marshon Lattimore last year, and boy has he panned out. Lattimore is one of the better shutdown cornerbacks in the NFC, and is a big reason why the Saints are suddenly so tough to throw against. The secondary had been an issue in New Orleans for so long, and it looks like the organization pushed all the right buttons to get better on defense this past offseason.
With their first round pick in April, the Saints should look to continue to add to that solid, young defense. Rashaan Evans is one of the best linebackers in all of college football, and is a big reason why the Alabama Crimson Tide are back in the College Football Playoff. Evans would be a leader in the middle of the Saints defense at the next level, and with all the offensive stars in the NFC South, you can never have enough talented players on defense.
