Mike McGlinchey

Offensive Tackle, Notre Dame

Last year, the Chicago Bears kind of shocked everybody when they traded up only one spot to grab Mitchell Trubisky from the University of North Carolina. Trubisky was the best quarterback prospect in the 2017 NFL Draft class, and the Bears wanted to make sure they got the player they wanted. The former Tar Hell has struggled during his rookie season, but the franchise has seen enough good in him to be glad they went up and got him last April.

As a rookie, Trubisky has not been able to lead the Bears to many wins, and they will be picking in at least the top-10 picks in 2018. With that pick, the Bears should look to bring in some talent along the offensive line, and it does not get much better than Mike McGlinchey. If Chicago is going to stay with Trubisky long-term, he needs to have the talent in front of him to succeed, and McGlinchey gives him that.

There are a bunch of solid offensive tackles in this draft class, but McGlinchey is the best, possessing incredible size, and feet. His Notre Dame offensive line was awarded as the best in college football this past season, and he is a main reason why. Chicago has solid running backs, and a good defense, so bolstering the offensive line, and protecting their young signal-caller, could make them a relevant franchise in the near future.
