Here are the college football recruiting rankings entering the first early National Signing Day.
For the first time in the history of recruiting, college football will have an early National Signing Day. On Wednesday, programs will be able to bring on board commits in an early signing process before the main National Signing Day in February.
This provides a new element to the recruiting game and it will certainly set a precedent. With many top programs in the middle of planning for bowl games and the College Football Playoff, they will now turn their attention to locking down some of their top commits.
Of course, recruiting is a 365-day a year process, so they have been ready for this for some time regardless if coaches are big on it or not. Nonetheless, the full impact of the classes won’t be felt until February, but for now, things will begin to take shape a little bit.
Right now, the usual suspects are near the top. However, there’s plenty of time for programs to rise and make big leaps or falls before signing day in February. Recruits will flip and boards will ultimately change.
For now, here’s how the top 15 looks according to 247sports.
- 1. Ohio State
- 2. Texas
- 3. Georgia
- 4. Miami
- 5. Penn State
- 6. Notre Dame
- 7. Alabama
- 8. Oklahoma

Urban Meyer is once again in the process of putting together another monster class for the Ohio State Buckeyes. After the class he brought in this past year with the talent that is already flooding the roster, the Buckeyes are set to do some major damage.

USC isn’t in the top 15 at the moment, but they’ll likely jump way up in there after they fill out their class. Alabama should be on the rise as well, certainly if they add yet another National Championship to the fold this year.
Clemson also should follow suit and make moves up to the top. Chip Kelly’s UCLA Bruins currently sit at the No. 14 ranking at the moment. The impact of his hire should be felt right away on the recruiting trail.
