The Florida Gators announce their early National Signing Day class for 2018.
It’s a brand new era for the Florida Gators, as they bring in Dan Mullen to be the head coach of the program. Mullen comes off a lengthy tenure with Mississippi State and returns to the program after a successful stint as offensive coordinator over a decade ago.
Mullen has had success wherever he ends up and the Gators are hoping that he can once again have them back competing for SEC championships. After making it to two straight SEC title games in the last couple of years, the program was abysmal this year.
A change was needed and now they are hopeful that Mullen is the guy to help get the program back on the track. Life in the SEC East can be a lot more forgiving than the SEC West, but it is still a difficult road.
With the Georgia Bulldogs a dominant power, it’s not going to be easy to knock them off their throne. Early National Signing Day is where it will all begin for Mullen, as he aims to lock in some commits.

According to 247sports, the Gators currently are 30th nationally with their class. That’s only good for ninth in the SEC at the moment. If they want to be competitive and turn things around, that’s going to have to rise.
Still, Mullen’s going to need time and there’s a long way to go until February, where he can hopefully flip some recruits and raise that number a little bit. If he can get some last minute recruits to Gainesville, then it will be a solid start for the program. Right now, four-star tackle, Richard Gouraige, is the prize of their commitments.
