The LSU Tigers announce their early National Signing Day class for 2018.

Ed Orgeron and the LSU Tigers will have to keep navigating through a tough SEC West in 2018. In his first full year as the head coach of the Tigers, Orgeron had some ups and downs, but the Tigers finished the year strong.

After losing to Troy, it looked like the Tigers were a program without a direction. Then they rallied together and became one of the better teams in the country as a result. Now, they’ll have to face some stiff competition going forward.

With Alabama and Auburn always being tough, and the addition of Jimbo Fisher at Texas A&M, every recruit is going to matter. That means Orgeron and his staff are going to need to pull in as strong of a class as possible to keep pace with all the talent in the toughest division in college football.

Early National Signing Day will be a chance for Orgeron and the Tigers to get some of their hard commits in place. Right now, the Tigers are 13th in the country and fourth in the conference with their class, according to 247sports.

They’re at a good spot, but they know every recruit matters and jumping into the top 10 could be all the difference when it comes to passing the rival programs that are ahead of them. Orgeron and staff have really targeted the defensive side of the ball with this group.

Their top five commits are all in the front seven and that should help lay a foundation for a strong core for the future up front. With the running games that exist in the conference, having plenty of strength up front is an absolute necessity.
