Fantasy football Week 16 rankings: Who to start and sit

Start: Tyrod Taylor, QB – Buffalo Bills
It’s still fairly baffling as to why Tyrod Taylor was ever benched for a fifth-round rookie but that fear should be put to bed for owners. The Bills are right in the hunt for a postseason berth and Coach Sean McDermott wouldn’t dare take Taylor out of the lineup.
Despite the limitations the passing game has in Buffalo, Taylor gets an excellent matchup on paper. He does have to travel to New England, but the Patriots defense has been very up and down. They’ve been down lately as they’ve gotten scorched by Jay Cutler and Ben Roethlisberger in consecutive weeks. The Roethlisberger stat line would have been much bigger had Antonio Brown played the entire game or if Ben had thrown just one more touchdown.
Taylor is almost never going to light up the stat sheet with passing yards but he’s typically a safe option in that regard. Where Taylor makes his fantasy money is on the ground. Taylor is one of the better scrambling quarterbacks in the NFL and it’s so easy for QBs to rack up points on the ground. In most formats, 10 rushing yards is worth the same as 25 yards passing.
Taylor is also a significant threat in the red zone that teams have difficulty guarding. The Buffalo signal caller has a fairly safe floor and upside of a top-eight quarterback this week.
