The USC Trojans announce their early National Signing Day class for 2018.
Fresh off a Pac-12 Championship, the USC Trojans are still aiming for their goal of making it to the College Football Playoff. Depending on whether or not Sam Darnold returns in 2018, the Trojans are focused on keeping the program a power among the national elites and remaining the top dog in the conference.
Early National Signing Day will provide a challenge for the Trojans and all the programs this year. While many of the nation’s elites sit near the top of the class rankings at the moment, USC has a bit of a different view at the moment.
According to 247sports, the Trojans are the 39th team nationally and only sixth in their conference. This isn’t uncommon, as we’ve seen the Trojans start a little slow and then clean up big time on recruiting day to move near the top of the rankings.
Looking at their class already, it appears that is the case. They have just nine commits at the moment with one five-star and multiple four-star recruits in the fold. As they fill out their class, their ranking will shoot way up based on those players that have already committed.

Palaie Gaoteote is the current crown jewel of this class. The top inside linebacker recruit should be the future anchor of the defense for Clay Helton and company. So while their ranking is a little low at the moment, they have plenty of top commits in the fold.
It’s simply a matter of filling out the class and any additional top recruits that commit their way will make this yet another strong class for the Trojans. The new early signing day will certainly be an interesting one for every program involved.
