Central Michigan vs. Wyoming(-2.5)(3):

Central Michigan 8-4, 6-2(t-2nd MAC):

Wins: vs. Rhode Island(30-27), at Kansas(45-27), at Ohio(26-23), at Ball State(56-9), at Western Michigan(35-28), vs. Eastern Michigan(42-30), at Kent State(42-23), vs. Northern Illinois(31-24)

Losses: at Syracuse(17-41), vs. Miami(OH)(14-31), at Boston College(8-28), vs. Toledo(10-30)

Record vs. bowl teams: 2-2

Michigan transfer Shane Morris had a solid year for the Chippewas. They had an October swoon, but won five straight to close the season. The emergence of RB Jonathan Ward was a big part of this. Ward ran for 147 yards in the triple overtime victory over Rhode Island in the opener, but only picked up 216 yards in the next six games combined. He closed the season with three 100 yard efforts in five games while not falling under 80.

Wyoming 7-5, 5-3(t-4th MWC):

Wins: vs. Gardner-Webb(27-0), vs. Hawaii(28-21), vs. Texas State(45-10), at Utah State(28-23), vs. New Mexico(42-3), vs. Colorado State(16-13), at Air Force(28-14)

Losses: at Iowa(3-24), vs. Oregon(13-49), at Boise State(14-24), vs. Fresno State(7-13), at San Jose State(17-20)

Record vs. bowl teams: 2-4

The Cowboys were awful on offense in the last two games of the season with Josh Allen out. How much does Allen have left to prove at the college level? I would say that his draft stock slipped a little this year. If he plays and plays well in this game on a national stage, it will help him out quite a bit.

Prediction:

Both of these teams rely on turnovers created by their defenses. Wyoming, despite the presence of Allen, doesn’t have a prolific offense. They struggled to run the ball for most of the season. In fact, the Cowboys’ leading rusher started the season as a linebacker! Receiver Austin Conway also ran the ball 15 times. They need a run game to take the pressure off of Allen. I’m not sure they get it.

Pick: Central Michigan (don’t worry….I changed my bowl mania pick).
