Every 2017 WWE PPV main event ranked by in-ring value

As 2017 comes to a close, here are the rankings for every single WWE pay-per-view main event that took place this year.
As 2017 comes to a close, it’s that time of year to reflect on the year that was in WWE. Specifically, we’re going to be taking a look at every single main event from every single main-roster pay-per-view that WWE produced this year on the WWE Network.
For just the second time in history, and the first time since reaching the peak in 2006, WWE put on 16 pay-per-view events in 2017. And while I’d love to be able to say that the final match of the night was great every time, we all know that simply isn’t true. Just to get that out of the way, that’s what we’re going to be judging here today. Despite wrestling or boxing or MMA organizations sometimes billing a double main event or anything similar, we all know that the final bout of the evening is what they really mean to be the actual main event, so that’s all we’re focusing on today.
Now, I’ve always been on the side of a world title match closing out a show — I’m betting CM Punk always felt that way as well — but that doesn’t always happen. In fact, of the 16 WWE pay-per-view main events in 2017, only half of them had either the WWE Championship or the WWE Universal Championship on the line. The other half includes the Royal Rumble Match, the Survivor Series brand vs. brand elimination matchup, a number one contender’s match, the Money in the Bank Ladder Match, a Hell in a Cell match — which is one of a couple of grudge matches in here — and perhaps the final match of one of the most iconic figures in WWE history. So it’s safe to say that 2017 was a mixed bag.
