AC Milan lost their game last weekend against 19th-place Verona 3-0. Leading scorer Suso was sent off in the 90th minute with a red card for violent conduct as frustration has grown this season. Milan were expected to compete for a spot in the top four this season but have struggled since the beginning of the season. In their first three games under interim manager Gennaro Gattuso, Milan picked up four points. Milan’s 23 goals rank in the middle of Serie A. However, Milan have struggled defensively, allowing the 11th most goals this season.
In their last game, Atalanta and Lazio drew 3-3. Atalanta jumped up to a 2-0 lead after 22 minutes but allowed a late goal in the final 10 minutes to settle for a draw instead of picking up all three points. Over their past four games, Atalanta have picked up eight points moving from 12th in the Serie A table to seventh. Josip Ilicic scored twice against Lazio, giving him a team-best six goals this season. Overall, Atalanta have scored the seventh most goals in Serie A but are ninth defensively, allowing 23 goals.
