It’s been an exciting Premier League season so far, with Manchester City topping the table. Here are 10 bold predictions for the second half.

The Premier League has reached its midway point and so far the season has been extremely entertaining. Manchester City are the runaway leaders in the league while Burnley have surprised everyone with their impressive form.

The second half of the season is set to be even more exciting with the Premier League coming to its conclusion in May. However, before we reach that point, we have 10 bold predictions about what will happen in the second half of the season.

1. Burnley win the rest of their games 1-0

One of the biggest surprises of this Premier League season has been Burnley’s unbelievable first 19 games, which have seen Sean Dyche’s side keep pace with the so-called big six, and even flirt with a place in the top four.

The main focal point of the Clarets’ impressive form is their rock solid defense. Quite amazingly, Burnley only conceded 15 goals in their first 19 matches — only Chelsea and the two Manchester clubs had better records.

This defensive stability has provided Burnley with the perfect backdrop to support their style of play, which relies on grabbing a goal and holding onto a lead. Instead of backing off teams, though, Burnley have managed to do this while remaining more competitive with teams.

In their previous Premier League seasons the Clarets struggled to execute a similar style of play and teams took advantage of the naivety. Now, Dyche doesn’t see his team as underdogs and neither do the players.

On top of this, not only are they formidable at home but Burnley have vastly improved their away record. In previous seasons they really struggled to pick up points on the road yet this season they’ve managed 15 points on their travels already.

With all this in mind, we fancy Burnley to go the rest of the season undefeated, winning all their games 1-0. Eventually, teams will simply give up trying to score against Burnley and play for 0-0 draws.
