With the seventh week of the college basketball season in the books, here’s what the AP Top 25 rankings might look like for Week 8.
Just when it looked like Week 7 was going to fly by without any upsets, the holiday weekend happened. It was almost like Christmas came early as there were a couple of upsets on Saturday, starting with Kentucky dropping against UCLA.
On top of that, No. 6 Miami lost to New Mexico State in a rare college basketball double-header in Hawaii. Those weren’t the only big upsets of the week as North Carolina lost at home to Wofford and Gonzaga couldn’t hold off upset-minded San Diego State on the road.
The Week 8 AP Top 25 will look much different with three top-10 teams falling and another top-15 team going down via upset, but will there be any new teams to crack the rankings? It’s not looking likely, but crazier things have happened with the AP voters.
Moreover, there are surging teams both right outside the AP Top 25 and ones that have already made their presence known. A prime example of a red-hot team would be Oklahoma. Another would be Arizona State which went from a preseason afterthought to the No. 3 team in the country with a 12-0 record.
We will have a new team in the AP Top 25 this week, but who will it be? Here’s what the Week 8 rankings will likely look like.
