High Salary C

Joel Embiid, PHI at NY ($10,800): Embiid returned to action on Saturday against the Raptors, a little ahead of schedule. He played just 23 minutes, but did manage 30.6 fantasy points. You rarely have to worry about production from Embiid, you just have to worry about minutes. His minutes will be monitored once again on Monday. My gut tells me he won’t play more than 25 minutes, although he may push things, being Christmas and all. If he plays less than 25 minutes, he won’t hit value. **

Karl-Anthony Towns, MIN at LAL ($10,700): Towns has been inconsistent this season, hitting value in just 52 percent of games. The Lakers are 19th against the position in their last 15 games, which makes this a good matchup for him, but his struggles throughout the season are a bit concerning. He’ll get his points and rebounds, but he really needs 20+ points to justify taking him, especially because he’s unlikely to contribute the way he has been defensively. ***

Clint Capela, HOU at OKC ($7,800): Capela is a game-time decision, so check his status before making any decisions. If he plays, there are some concerns coming off the injury, but he won’t forget how to rebound and finish lobs. The Thunder are 11th against the position in their last 15 games, but they can be beaten by athletic centers who rebound and finish well around the rim given their undersized core. If he plays, I like him around value. ***
