High Value PF

Carmelo Anthony, OKC vs HOU ($6,200): Anthony is starting to settle into his role in the Oklahoma City offense. He’s getting a lot of good looks off catch-and-shoot opportunities while contributing on the boards as well. Despite his perceived inconsistencies this season, he’s hit value in 69 percent of games. This is a tough matchup as the Rockets are third against the position in their last 15 games. Anthony should be right around value (26.2 fantasy points) and has the potential to be much higher if he’s knocking down his shots. ***

Taj Gibson, MIN at LAL ($5,700): Gibson has missed value in four of his last five, but he’s been two points of value in three of those contests. The Timberwolves are 24th against the position in their last 15 games. Gibson has been a reliable play all season, hitting value in 73 percent of contests. Based on his consistency and this matchup, I’m not too concerned his recent games. I expect him to be at a minimum of 25 fantasy points. You can always count on Gibson for a handful of points and rebounds along with a couple of defensive plays. ***

Michael Beasley, NY vs PHI ($4,500): Beasley’s hot-stretch came to an end against the Pistons as he managed only 10.9 fantasy points in 13 minutes. Prior to that, he had been over 35 fantasy points in three straight. It’s possible that it was an off-night, being a back-to-back, but his career tells us that it was just a strong stretch of games and not sustainable. Still, Beasley makes this list because he’s has the highest upside of any value power forward based on recent production. He’s a risk, but it’s Christmas, maybe you’re in a good mood. **
