Despite winning the AFC South and clinching a playoff berth for the first time since 2007, the Jaguars are fighting each other.

For the first time in a decade, the Jacksonville Jaguars are headed to the postseason. With a loss by the Titans in Week 16 against the Rams, the AFC South title belongs to Duvall County for the first time in franchise history, yet all is not well with the Jaguars.

After surrendering a 10-0 lead on the road to the 49ers, CBS cameras captured Aaron Colvin and Malik Jackson having a heated conversation on the sideline that doesn’t seem to fit with the Christmas spirit.

That’s not what you’re looking for. It’s also a pretty bad omen for a team that seems to always be hanging on by a thread — that thread being Blake Bortles.

It’s art that the lead-in to the clip of Jaguars defensive stars fighting on the sideline was Bortles trotting onto the field. Despite the recent uptick in his play, the Jaguars ceiling remains whatever their quarterback allows and there’s not enough success to suggest that it’s high. Bortles has no doubt been playing better in his last few games, but the Super Bowl aspirations the Jaguars have inexplicably manufactured this season depend on how well he plays.

Those Super Bowl dreams have been built by and carried on the backs of the defensive stars like Jackson and Colvin.  Aside from the Bortles variable, the Jaguars defense has been a top unit all season long and isn’t accustomed to falling into 10-0 holes. Jimmy Garappolo is fantastic, but the way he rag-dolled the Jaguars defense out of the gate is unsettling — so too is the reaction by a team that needs to get its head ready for high-pressure playoff situations where cooler heads always prevail.
