We’re getting ready to see the Oakland Raiders visit the Philadelphia Eagles on Christmas evening. Which team will prevail in this contest?

When the Philadelphia Eagles fell behind the New York Giants by 13 points in the second quarter last Sunday, there had to be some curiosity as to how backup Nick Foles would respond. He was making his first start of the season in place of injured quarterback Carson Wentz. The veteran passer would throw for four scores without an interception and the Birds would emerge with a 34-29 victory.

This week’s opponent is the Oakland Raiders, who at 6-8 are still somehow mathematically alive for the playoffs. But do the math and Jack Del Rio’s team is truly behind the eight ball. So what can we expect on Christmas evening in the City of Brotherly love from these interconference foes?

Odds

Line: Eagles (-9)

Over/Under: 47.5

It’s worth noting that the Raiders are a disappointing 2-4 away from home this season, just one year after winning six of their eight road contests. Meanwhile, the Eagles have won eight consecutive home games dating back to Week 16 of the 2016 season.

The Philadelphia Eagles own the NFL’s best record at 12-2, are NFC East champions and have already secured one of the top two seeds in the conference’s playoff field. Depending on what the Minnesota Vikings do on Saturday night at Lambeau Field, these Birds need another win (or a Minnesota loss) to secure home-field advantage through the NFC playoffs. Regardless of the circumstances, Foles needs more time when it comes to timing with his receivers. And don’t look for the Eagles to let off the gas just yet – or at all.

Pick: Eagles 29, Raiders 17
