The Boston Celtics will host the Washington Wizards, the third NBA game on Christmas Day this season. After a few ferocious regular season games and a hard-fought playoff series, this has become a passionate rivalry between two teams who really don’t like each other. The Celtics went into the weekend 26-9, the best record in the Eastern Conference. The Wizards were at 17-14 in a three-way tie for the final three playoff spots in the East.
Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. ET on Dec. 25 at TD Garden in Boston, MA. This game will be broadcast on ABC so NBA League Pass won’t cover you (for this or any other Christmas Day games this year).

The Celtics looked doomed when Gordon Hayward went down with a season-ending leg injury on Opening Night. Instead they bounced back with an enormous win streak, driven by one of the best defenses in the league. Al Horford and Kyrie Irving have been terrific and the young wings Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum have given Boston plenty of defense and shooting.
The Wizards have been up and down to start the season. Bradley Beal has played well but John Wall hasn’t been quite as good as last season and a lack of depth continues to hamper them. Washington hasn’t been bad, but they also haven’t been good enough at either end of the floor to really break through.

This game promises plenty of fireworks. Even with so many new faces in Boston, this rivalry has juice and both teams should be fired up to embarrass a rival on national television.
