2018 NFL Mock Draft: Josh Rosen goes to Browns
By Brad Weiss
The Los Angeles Chargers started off the season at 0-4, and suddenly first-year head coach Anthony Lynn was on the hot seat. However, the Bolts have won eight of their last 11 games, and find themselves still alive in the AFC Playoff race heading into the final weekend. That is quite the turnaround, and while they do need some help if they hope to get in, it has been a wild ride to say the least.
This past offseason, the Chargers brought in Russell Okung, who has done a nice job at left tackle for the team in 2017. However, this team needs to spend their first round pick on a left tackle they can put into the position for the next ten seasons, and Orlando Brown from Oklahoma could be that guy. Brown has protected Baker Mayfield the last three seasons, and thanks to him, Mayfield has been a Heisman finalist every year.
Los Angeles has some incredible talent on the defensive line, and now they need to start thinking about the other side of the ball. Quarterback Philip Rivers is not getting any younger, and the team needs to make a concerted effort to protect him for as many years as he has left. Brown can help them do that, while giving them the anchor they have been lacking at left tackle for most of Rivers career with the Chargers.
