Manchester City have been running away with the Premier League this season. Pep Guardiola’s team have been so dominating, they have people asking if they are the best team of all-time. On Wednesday, the Citizens travel to St. James’ Park to face newly-promoted Newcastle. The Magpies have had an up and down season. At the halfway point of the season, Newcastle are battling for safety, looking to avoid relegation one year after being promoted.
Rafa Benitez’s squad have hit a rough patch in their season, falling down the table over the past month. However, the Magpies have played better at St. James’ Park this season compared to on the road. Newcastle have three wins and 10 points in nine home fixtures this season but have lost their last four home games.
The Citizens have been better away from home this season, winning all nine of their games this season outscoring their opponents 24-5. Guardiola’s team have been unstoppable when they have the ball, leading the Premier League in goals and goal differential by a wide margin. In addition to being the best offensive team, City are one of the best defensive teams, controlling possession and preventing the opposition from getting many scoring opportunities.
