The Southern Miss Golden Eagles will play the Florida State Seminoles in the 2017 Independence Bowl on Wednesday. Here is how to watch the game online.

Now that we have made it past Christmas, the holiday bowl season really starts to heat up. In one of the most iconic bowls of the post-Christmas Day slate, the Southern Miss Golden Eagles (8-4) will face the Florida State Seminoles (6-6) in the 2017 Walk On’s Independence Bowl.

Kickoff from Independence Stadium in Shreveport, Louisiana will be at 1:30 p.m. ET on Dec. 27. ESPN will have the early afternoon telecast on Wednesday with Anish Shroff and Ahmad Brooks in the booth to call the bowl game. The available live streams can be found on WatchESPN and on FuboTV.

Southern Miss went 8-4 (6-2) this season. The Golden Eagles held their own in the tougher of the two Conference USA divisions in the West, going 6-2 in conference play. While Southern Miss didn’t win its division, this looks to be one of the better teams that Conference USA has to offer. Look for the Golden Eagles to give the Seminoles all they can handle.

Florida State struggled mightily in 2017. The Seminoles need to reschedule a game with the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks on championship Saturday to even have a shot at being bowl eligible. They did so barely, as the Seminoles went 6-6 overall and a lousy 3-5 in ACC play.

It was a down year for Florida State, but hopefully the Seminoles will bounce back under new head coach Willie Taggart. Taggart replaces Jimbo Fisher, who is now with the head coach of the Texas A&M Aggies in the SEC.

According to OddsShark, the Seminoles will be laying 16.5 points to the Golden Eagles on a neutral site. The associated moneylines for this game are Florida State -670 and Southern Miss +600. This game’s over/under comes in at a combined 49 points.

Betting Odds

Point Spread: Florida State -16.5
Moneylines: Florida State -670, Southern Miss +600
Over/Under: 49

Even though Florida State has a new coaching staff in place under Taggart, the Seminoles have more on-field talent than the Golden Eagles. Therefore, Florida State should be favored over Southern Miss in this ball game. However, is the 16.5-point spread a bit too much?
