2017 Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl Odds And Prediction

Bowl season is really ramping up with nine games between Friday and Saturday. I will be here giving you all of the info you need to make an educated pick against the spread if you so choose. Bowl season got off to a tough start, but I have improved lately. Next up is the Wildcat Bowl, aka the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl.

Wins: at Southern Mississippi(24-17), vs. Eastern Kentucky(27-16), at South Carolina(23-13), vs. Eastern Michigan(24-20), vs. Missouri(40-34), vs. Tennessee(29-26), at Vanderbilt(44-21)

Record vs. bowl teams: 3-3

The Wildcats were once again wildly inconsistent. However, Benny Snell is one of the better backs in the conference, but if Kentucky gets into a situation where they need to pass, they are in some trouble. The defense is solid, but unspectacular. Until they run into a good team. Is Northwestern good? Just ask the teams that thought they had an easy win in Evanston.

Northwestern 9-3, 7-2 (t-3rd Big Ten(14):

Wins: vs. Nevada(31-20), vs. Bowling Green(49-7), at Maryland(37-21), vs. Iowa(17-10), vs. (16)Michigan State(39-31), at Nebraska(31-24), vs. Purdue(23-13), vs. Minnesota(39-0), at Illinois(42-7)

Losses: at Duke(17-41), at (10)Wisconsin(24-33), vs. (4)Penn State(7-31)

Record vs. bowl teams: 5-5

The Wildcats stumbled out of the gate, but won their last seven games. Aside from the Duke game, this defense was very good. This is a grinding team, but they aren’t devoid of talent. Clayton Thorson looks like the kind of guy that can play in the NFL. Justin Jackson is possibly the best back Northwestern has ever had, which is saying something. The school record book is littered with his name now. You will see why in this game.

Prediction:

I’m predicting a Wildcat win. Yeah, I know. You want me to be more specific. Northwestern has a defense that can slow down Snell and force Kentucky into mistakes while their offense grinds it out. Expect a strong game in Justin Jackson’s last game in purple. This might not be close.
