Wake Forest(-2.5) vs. Texas A&M at Charlotte, NC(4):
Wake Forest 7-5, 4-4(t-4th ACC):
Wins: vs. Presbyterian(51-7), at Boston College(34-10), vs. Utah State(46-10), at Appalachian State(20-19), vs. Louisville(42-32), at Syracuse(64-43), vs. (19)North Carolina State(30-24)
Losses: vs. Florida State(19-26), at (2)Clemson(14-28), at Georgia Tech(24-38), at (3)Notre Dame(37-48), vs. Duke(23-31)
Record vs. bowl teams: 4-4
This team went as John Wolford went. He is going to have to find someone else to throw to with leading reciever Greg Dortch out for this game. However, the fact that this is practically a home game will help the Deacons out quite a bit. Wolford will be back to full health, which he was not against Duke, and it showed.
Texas A&M 7-5, 4-4(t-6th SEC):
Wins: vs. Nicholls State(24-14), vs. Louisiana(45-21), vs. Arkansas(50-43), vs. South Caorlina(24-17), at Florida(19-17), vs. New Mexico(55-14), at Mississippi(31-24)
Losses: at UCLA(44-45), vs. (1)Alabama(19-27), vs. Mississippi State(14-35), vs. (14)Auburn(27-42), at (18)LSU(21-45)
Record vs. bowl teams: 1-5
The offense functioned better with Kellen Mond under center, but it really is relative. This was an inconsistent team all season long. As you could see by them blowing a 31 point lead with 20 minutes left in the opener against UCLA. The defense looked good against bad offenses, but there was far more bad than good for most of the season for A&M. However, they still made it to a bowl game, and are a dangerous team if they show up.
Prediction:
I’m a tad less confident in this with Dortch out, but Wolford is a very underrated quarterback. A&M has a lot of athletes, but not much else. Well, besides an interim coach. Kevin Sumlin finally wore out his welcome in College Station. He will be remembered for bringing some great talent in, but doing very little with it. When you add in the fact that this is basically a road game, the Aggies have far too much going against them.
