After one of the worst starts to a season in European history, Crystal Palace have slowly been moving up the Premier League table. Palace are looking to create more distance between themselves and the bottom three. Arsenal are in their usual position, battling for a top-four spot with the rest of the Premier League’s big six clubs.

It took a few games but manager Roy Hodgson has stabilized Palace after a disastrous start to the season. Despite losing their first three home games of the season, Palace have gone unbeaten in their last six games. In nine home games this season, Palace have three wins and 12 points. Wilfried Zaha and Christian Benteke will lead the attack for Palace. Both players have played better under Hodgson after struggling to start the season.

Arsene Wenger’s team is again battling for fourth place in the Premier League. While the Gunners have been excellent at home, winning eight of nine games, they have been awful away from home. In their first nine road games, Arsenal have two wins and nine points. When Alexandre Lacazette was signed in the summer from Lyon, there were questions about how he would adjust to the play in the Premier League. At the season’s midpoint, Lacazette leads the club in scoring and has been an upgrade over Olivier Giroud.

Crystal Palace finish 2017 in the worst possible way, hosting Manchester City at Selhurst Park on Dec. 30. In their first game of 2018, Palace face Southampton. Arsenal face West Brom on Dec. 30 and host Chelsea in their first game of 2018.
