We’re getting ready to see the Miami Dolphins host the Buffalo Bills on Sunday afternoon. Which team will prevail in this contest?

Could the Buffalo Bills actually be headed to the playoffs for the first time since the franchise came up short in the 1999 AFC Wild Card Game? NFL fans will recall the team’s 22-16 loss to the Tennessee Titans in Nashville aka the “Music City Miracle.”

If Sean McDermott’s up-and-down club is to play some football in January, they need to do their part and knock off the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday. Just two weeks ago at Orchard Park, quarterback Tyrod Taylor threw for 224 yards and a score and both he and running back LeSean McCoy ran for touchdowns as Buffalo held off the ‘Fins, 24-16.

Since defeating the New England Patriots on a Monday night in Week 14, Adam Gase’s club has dropped two straight – including a 29-13 setback last Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium to the Chiefs. So who comes out on top this weekend in South Florida?

Odds

Line: Bills (-3)

Over/Under: 42.5

The people at OddsShark installed the Bills as 3-point favorites, which should tell you something about how the Dolphins are playing at the moment. McDermott’s club is just 2-5 on the road this season but with wins at Atlanta and at Kansas City. The over/under seems about right for this matchup.

It’s going to take a little assistance but the Buffalo Bills could finally end the NFL’s longest active playoff drought with a win over the Miami Dolphins and a little help from a few other teams. Only five teams in the league are averaging more yards per game on the ground than McDermott’s squad. The Miami defense has been better against the run this season but this is still a tall order for the ‘Fins. The Bills go out kicking and screaming…and hoping.

Pick: Bills 24, Dolphins 20
