The world of boxing provided fight fans with magical memories in 2017. Here are some of the year’s best highlights.

Boxing had a bit of a renaissance in 2017. The sweet science is starting to find its way back into the sporting mainstream. In 2017, boxing could be found on many channels other than HBO and Showtime. ESPN broadcasted bouts through deals with Top Rank and Premier Boxing Champions.

Fights like Mayweather-McGregor and Golovkin-Alvarez captured the interest of casual and dedicated fight fans. These two matches provided boxing its biggest stages. Amazingly, both fights lived up to the hype, which helped secure new boxing fans.

Beyond these two mega-fights, boxing had a lot of action and drama. This past year helped develop the intrigue of potential bouts to come in 2018. Will Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua finally settle who’s the king of the heavyweight division? Will GGG take on Canelo in a rematch? Can Terence Crawford rule the welterweight division as easily as he did the lower weight classes? It’s an exciting time to be a boxing fan. We will have to wait until 2018 to have these questions answered.

Before we enter the new year, this slideshow will highlight the best moments and boxers of 2017. Read on to see who was the best newcomer, who had the biggest career comeback, who produced the best knockout, which fight had the most action, and who deserves to be called the 2017’s fighter of the year.
