On Friday night, the 2017 Cotton Bowl will take place, between Ohio State and USC. A look at how to watch it online.
The 2017 bowl season began in the middle of December, with lower-ranked college football teams taking the field. However, with 2018 approaching, the best schools have started to play their bowl games. That will include Friday night’s matchup, with Ohio State vs. USC in the 2017 Cotton Bowl.
Ohio State was on the brink of the College Football Playoff. Despite having two losses, it won the Big Ten Championship Game. defeating an unranked Wisconsin team. That didn’t mean anything, however, as the committee deemed Alabama better, slotting them at No. 4. The Buckeyes were No. 5 and barely missed out.
The Cotton Bowl won’t be poor compensation, though, with a game against a powerhouse USC team. It’s also the final collegiate game for quarterback JT Barrett, so look for an inspired performance from the senior star.
As for the Trojans, this could be quarterback Sam Darnold’s final collegiate game, too. Only a redshirt sophomore, the Capistrano Beach, CA native can enter the 2018 NFL Draft. It’s possible he becomes a top-10 pick, so it’s an enticing future. So, if Darnold plans a move to the professional level, the Cotton Bowl will be his last chance to impress NFL scouts.
For USC’s team, it missed an opportunity at the College Football Playoff, despite winning the Pac-12 Championship. Clay Helton’s team was rarely in the hunt for most of the season, given the team’s two losses in the first half of their campaign.
