With the eighth week of the college basketball season in the books, here’s what the AP Top 25 rankings might look like for Week 9.

Just when we thought there was going to be a break in the mayhem that has been college basketball in 2017, things got a little crazier in Week 9. During the final week of the 2017 calendar year, there was plenty of eye-popping action which led to a number of upsets.

Let’s start with the No. 1 team in the land. Villanova was one of the few unbeatens left in college basketball before facing off against Butler on the road. The Saturday showdown was circled on the Bulldogs’ calendar and they found a way to pull off the mammoth upset, knocking off the nation’s top team.

Another team vying for that top spot, No. 3 Arizona State, had a chance to beat a ranked Arizona team to vault Michigan State at No. 1, but the Sun Devils weren’t able to hold off their in-state rival. Three more top-five teams falling, including No. 5 Texas A&M at Alabama, means there will be a major shakeup in the rankings for Week 9.

The chaos this early in the season means just one thing: March will be even crazier. If the first two months of mostly non-conference action are any indication, this could be one of the best NCAA Tournament seasons in recent memory. Buckle your seatbelts, folks.

Let’s take a look at what the Week 9 college basketball Top 25 will look like after yet another wild week of action.
