The Clemson Tigers face the Alabama Crimson Tide in the 2018 Sugar Bowl as part of the College Football Playoff on Jan. 1. Here’s all the info to watch.
There’s really no better way to bring in the new year than with College Football Playoff action. Luckily, that’s exactly what fans have to look for. After a day full of fun and exciting bowl games, the CFP will get underway. And in the finale of the night in the 2018 Sugar Bowl, it’ll be a familiar matchup as the Clemson Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide meet up for the third-straight year.
Over the past two years, this has been the matchup in the National Championship Game. However, this year is much different, beginning with Alabama. After Nick Saban’s group lost to Auburn in the Iron Bowl, their College Football Playoff lives appeared in jeopardy. However, they snuck in still after a great season by Jalen Hurts, Damien Harris and Co. to get the No. 4 seed.
As for the Tigers, the defending champions are no longer with Deshaun Watson on the field. With that said, Clemson under Dabo Swinney has seen an identity change and now thrive on their defense with Kelly Bryant replacing Watson and keeping the offense at least solid. Now heading into the Sugar Bowl, the likes of Christian Wilkins, Clelin Ferrell and that ferocious defense will look to keep the Tide at bay.
