Sony Michel came back to Georgia for his Senior season, and he sent them to the National Championship with his touchdown run in double overtime.
In the first-ever overtime and highest-scoring Rose Bowl, it proved to be everything we thought it would be and more. Georgia trailed by 17 in the first half and then erased that deficit in the third quarter ultimately leading to double overtime in Pasadena.
The Georgia Bulldogs have probably the best backfield in the country led by their two seniors Sony Michel and Nick Chubb. It was only fitting that one of them would be the guy to send the Bulldogs to the National Championship Game.

Earlier in the game, Chubb and Michel broke the record for most career rushing yards by a running back duo in college football history, and it was Michel who took the direct snap and scored the game-winning touchdown in double overtime.
It was his fourth touchdown of the game and the most important one. To think that Georgia almost missed out on an opportunity to go to overtime because of Michel. Late in the fourth quarter, Michel fumbled the ball and Oklahoma picked it up and took it back to the house to take a seven-point lead.
Georgia responded two possessions later and tied the game up with 55 seconds left in regulation. Michel and Chubb both would have been among the best running backs available had they decided to declare for the NFL draft last year. But they decided to return for their senior season for this opportunity.
This game-winning touchdown was set up by a fellow senior Lorenzo Carter who blocked Oklahoma’s go-ahead field goal attempt on their possession of the second overtime. Michel finished the game with 11 carries for 181 yards including a 75-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter.
The Bulldogs will now return home to Atlanta to play the winner of the second semi-final game between Clemson and Alabama for all the marbles.
