Southampton host Crystal Palace at St. Mary’s Stadium to kick off 2018 for both teams. After 21 games, only one point separates the two clubs in the Premier League table. The Saints are 13th with 20 points, while Palace are 17th with 19 points.

In their last game, Southampton held Manchester United to a scoreless draw. The Saints closed 2017 going winless in their last eight games of the year. Mauricio Pellegrino’s team have not won a game since Nov. 26. Over their last eight games, the Saints have picked up only four points. Charlie Austin leads the club with six goals this season but will miss the Tuesday’s game with a hamstring injury. Manolo Gabbiadini or Shane Long will replace Austin in the starting XI. However, Gabbiadini and Long have combined to score three goals in almost 1700 minutes this season and neither has scored since Oct. 15.

In their last game, Palace did the unthinkable and ended Manchester City’s 18-game winning streak, holding the Citizens to a scoreless draw. Earlier in the season, City beat Palace 5-0 but the Eagles have improved dramatically since Roy Hodgson took over as manager. Palace have picked up 15 points in their last 10 games, including points in nine of their last 10 games. Wilfried Zaha has again been Palace’s best player this season. The Ivory Coast international has scored four goals this season and has been linked with a possible move to Arsenal as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez.
